Here's one economist that has a clue...

As I've been blogging for years now..... Give the consumer the money and this depression is over. Broke dicks, no matter who's at fault, can't spend what they don't have. Our fiat system needs consumers to spend so money can be created through our banking system and then destroyed through our FEDERAL taxation. 

It's hard to understand but the U.S. government doesn't have any money (some gold yes, but gold is not money, only federal reserve notes are.) Our Treasury creates money (yes, out of thin air) as soon as authorized by Congress and the President through the authorization process by crediting our bank accounts with deposits in the Fed.

As we withdraw this money and spend it it's taxed back to the Treasury and destroyed into thin air. Which means the only money in our system is in our banks and our pockets THAT WE HAVEN'T SPENT and are used by banks as reserves (cash on hand in case their customers need the money back) not in any government accounts. No surplus or deficit is possible because the government doesn't have any money.

And yes, it's weird but that' why it's called a fiat system amongst economist. 

The only real cure for  this depression would be to send you and me a big check to pay off (JUBILEE) our debts and reset the system. This economist I'm talking about, Steve Keene, simply wants the government to credit our bank accounts with the stipulation that it be used for paying debts first and any left then be allowed to be spent.

Now, this is not a panacea because the gang that destroyed our system still owns it and you and I have no say. But, this works for me. (Hair splitting  maybe but the IRS has my address and they could just send me a check and I'll take care of the debts.)

What if in a few more years we are still this shit?

Normally, history shows us that these people at the top  are not going to change their strangle hold on our system and so, it must, one way or the other, be purged. Tar and feather, lynching, assasination .....take you pick. Hey I'm just reporting that these things can end badly because there are a COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILLION Guns out here.

At least 21 treated for burns after trying to walk on coals at Tony Robbins event | Fox News

Fire officials in California say at least 21 people were treated for burns after attendees of an event for motivational speaker Tony Robbins tried to walk on hot coals. The San Jose Mercury News reports that at least three people went to a hospital and most suffered second- or third-degree burns. Robbins was hosting a 4-day gathering called "Unleash the Power Within" at the San Jose Convention Center. Witnesses say on Thursday, a crowd went to a park where 12 lanes of hot coals were on the grass. Robbins' website promotes "The Firewalk Experience" in which people walk on super-heated coals. Witness Jonathan Correll says he heard "screams of agony."

Start out a quarter at $80 a barrel , buy a bunch of futures contracts and put them in the portfolio along with your other holdings like Apple, IBM, and Johnson and Johnson and run them up just like any other asset class in the first quarter to hit your numbers. Use the media to hype Iran or any other potential supply disruption scenario and Voila you end the quarter at $110 and you have made far more gains in your Crude Oil asset class than lowly Apple by comparison. It’s the biggest game on Wall Street!   Notice how European equities are at 11 week highs and look at the Spike in the Brent contract. Fund managers pump money into these asset classes and once earnings are over, they will pull their money out so they are not left holding the bag when the damage to the economy ensues as consumers and the economy slows due to the burden of artificially high Oil prices on discretionary income.

The U.S can never involuntarily go bankrupt!!!......

Pretty obvious that all government spending goes into our hands and that the deficits and national Debts are accounting measures and don't mean that we threw the money down a rat hole. Some of it is in my retirement government bonds. More is going to old farts, retirees and welfare bums. Much goes back to government employees and contractors.

Every penny gets spent and taxed back to the Treasury. Government spends a dolar it gets it back one way or the other in a fiat money economy. Banks create most of the money by making loans so if you want more money going into the Treasury.....

Send us a big check and we will pay off our bills and buy every fucking thing in sight!!!

I guess it's more fun and politically useful for the people who own us to scare the beJesus out of little old ladies on SS and Repubilcans and keep this nuttiness going.

The Things Obama Says…. | PRAGMATIC CAPITALISM

If you just finished section 6 in Understanding the Modern Monetary System then you understand a lot more about the monetary system than Barack Obama.  Because once you understand sector balance economics you understand that the three sectors (public, private and foreign) must always add up to zero.  So, since we have a foreign sector that equates to a 4% demand leakage, and a public sector that is running a 8% deficit that leaves the private with a 4% surplus.  Not bad.  But it’s also obviously not great since the private sector remains burdened by excessive debt and is trying to crawl out of this debt hole. More frightening is the idea that getting back to a budget surplus is somehow a good thing.  As if the government needs to “tighten its belt strap” just like a household does because it might go bankrupt.  Of course, the government doesn’t have a solvency constraint so the entire analogy is void of value.  So when the public sector gets back to that surplus range we end up having a 4% demand leakage from the foreign sector and a 4% deficit for the private sector (see the image below).  This is precisely what led up to the crisis and helped contribute to the current economic malaise.  It is not what we need right now!  In a deleveraging cycle within a nation running a trade deficit the private sector needs helps deleveraging.  And since the public sector has no solvency constraint it is the only sector that can provide the deficit that is necessary to ease this burden.  Otherwise, we risk repeating the mistakes of the late 90′s that caused this whole mess to begin with!

I'm picking on the socialists this week as I tell my readers that America is devided into two warring camps, right -left. The left preaches that the country is rotten because of Republicans (consevatives) and the right insists it's the leftists (commies) in the Democrat party. 

The whole point is to get me and you on one side or the other and give them the power of the vote and,especially,our money. When we watch these people in action, most of the time, you can't tell any policy or legislation that differs.

The whole idea is to control our thoughts, money, and vote. But, don't take my word for it, just listen and watch what they do. They all leave their cushy government, TV, or university jobs and never have to work again if they play the game.

Indeed, Greece has developed a culture of tax evasion, with wealthy citizens sending their money out of the country and poorer citizens bribing officials or conducting their business off the books. The amount of tax owed but not paid in Greece is estimated at roughly a third of total receipts — or enough to cover the nation's deficits and begin to restore its credit. Sociologists who have studied the Greek tax situation say that rampant evasion by the rich has trickled down to infect the rest of society, ruining the "tax morale" of wage-earners and small business owners. As James Surowiecki explained in The New Yorker, people here and elsewhere don't pay taxes simply because they fear prosecution; they pay because they are "social taxpayers" who "feel a responsibility to contribute to the common good." But that sense of shared obligation gradually dissipates when taxpayers suspect that many others, especially the rich, are not participating fairly and fully. Despite growing debt and deficits, we are not on the road to Greece. With investors around the world rushing to purchase U.S.Treasury bonds and driving rates to historic lows, this country is far from the plight of the homeland of democracy. For now, it is safe to ignore right-wing rhetoric that shrieks the fiscal sky is falling. But if such troubles lie ahead, the real cause will not be spending on income security, health care, infrastructure, education or any of the other programs that have made America a great nation. If we are driven toward national bankruptcy someday, the likeliest cause will be our failure to raise and enforce taxes on those who can afford to pay — because we, too, have encouraged a culture of evasion rather than responsibility.

Number 1

Obama attacks Romney's money because the only real card he has is class envy. Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and you and I weren't so Romney must be "not one of us" . And we all know only morons vote for "not one of us".

Number 2 ...

Obama will not be able to do much about the "fiscal cliff" as he doesn't have any support in the House of Representatives. But, of course, we will hold him responsible because he's the president. (no one ever said the voters had a lick of sense when it comes election time. )

The real question to any informed citizen is just what real differences are there between, the Bush's policies, Clinton's or Oba mama's? Or anybody else, except Ron Paul, in the limelight. (a nice guy but horribly confused on economics)

The only ones I can find are: Republicans give checks to the military establishment first (their main constituency) and rally pissed off tax payers to support their policies of keeping them pissed off and the Dems give checks to a handful of voting blocks that make up a coalition that keeps them in office because no one would vote for these dingle berries of their own free will.

You'll find from my blog posts that I Lean Libertarian-right on the whole but I know that the U.S owns the world even though we are embarrassed or shy about it. We conquored the whole planet in '45 and we spent almost 70 years giving it back to halfwits, con men and various sissies who couldn't keep it or run it in the first place! 

My main point of this blog is that our government has been bought by a small crowd of well heeled and noisy gang that quite literally owns us! (people have poo pooed the idea but just try to do anything with out government permit, legislation, permission, or without tax , incentive or penalty.) And they couldn't run a brick shithouse to save their sorry asses.

Ill be glad to read anything you have and will post and answer over the next few days. (Yes, I like to argue and that's correct, I'm always right, just ask my wife!)

Obama: Government Job Slayer | PRAGMATIC CAPITALISM

Little known or distributed fact: President Obama is a government job slayer.  That’s right.   When compared to both GW Bush and Bill Clinton, President Obama is absolutely crushing the size of the government workforce.  While Presidents Bush and Clinton added well over 500,000 government jobs during their first terms, President Obama has cut more than 500,000.  For anyone who remembers the early Clinton and Bush years there was  a great deal of decent employment data and the government workforce played a big role in those economic expansions.  But as this morning’s employment data showed, that positive effect is absent from this “recovery”.

Depression anyone?.....

Nothing new here. Obama  can't get anything done in Congress about it. We need a lot of money to pour into our pockets to spend us into a boom and it ain't happening. remains to be seen but the oil price drop is the only thing Obama can hope for.

I think he needs Jesus for that right now but an awful lot of voters are depending on their government handouts and pensions to vote against him. 

I'll admit that it is going to be a lot closer than I thought because the president gets blamed or credited with everything even if he has no control over them.

Meanwhile, Patti and I are very comfortable in the new trailer "thanks to my insisting on a 3500 watt generator). Still have to work on water conservation because 50 gallons is way short. I've added 12 gallons more in portable cans so we can make it for seven days now.

I'll probably buy a portable tank for emptying the tanks when we hit the road next year so I have options on packing up at the various campsites in the Arizona deserts. Can't have too much capacity in reserve, that's for sure.

Robert Reich (The Jobs Doldrums and Obama's Future)

Bad news for the U.S. economy and for Barack Obama. We’re in the jobs doldrums. Unemployment for June is stuck at 8.2 percent, the same as in May. And only 80,000 new jobs were added.  Remember, 125,000 news jobs are needed just to keep up with the increase in the population of Americans who need jobs. That means the jobs situation continues to worsen.  The average of 75,000 new jobs created in April, May and June contrasts sharply with the 226,000 new jobs created in January, February and March.  In Ohio yesterday, Obama reiterated that he had inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression. That’s true. But the excuse is wearing thin. It’s his economy now, and most voters don’t care what he inherited.

Should we tell him....

Of course, as far as Wall Street is concerned they can bribe everybody in Washington with impunity.

Robert Reich (Mitt Romney and the New Gilded Age)

The election of 2012 raises two perplexing questions. The first is how the GOP could put up someone for president who so brazenly epitomizes the excesses of casino capitalism that have nearly destroyed the economy and overwhelmed our democracy. The second is why the Democrats have failed to point this out.

The White House has criticized Mitt Romney for his years at the helm of Bain Capital, pointing to a deal that led to the bankruptcy of GS Technologies, a Bain investment in Kansas City that went belly up in 2001 at the cost of 750 jobs. But the White House hasn’t connected Romney’s Bain to the larger scourge of casino capitalism. Not surprisingly, its criticism has quickly degenerated into a “he said, she said” feud over what proportion of the companies that Bain bought and loaded up with debt subsequently went broke (it’s about 20 percent), and how many people lost their jobs relative to how many jobs were added because of Bain’s financial maneuvers (that depends on when you start and stop the clock). And it has invited a Republican countercharge that the administration gambled away taxpayer money on its own bad bet, the Solyndra solar panel company.

A lot of little things need to be done to both units to be comfortable in the new trailer and saleable in the mobile. Have a lot of ideas for the new but need to take care of the old first. I'll post a video if it ever stops raining here on the new trailer.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Thursday that the Supreme Court ruling upholding President Obama’s health care law means that the only way now to remove the law is to remove the president in the November election. “This is a time of choice for the American people. Our mission is clear: If we want to get rid of Obamacare, we have to replace President Obama,” Mr. Romney said, during a brief press conference across the street from the U.S. Capitol. Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, claimed that the Affordable Care Act amounts to a $500 billion tax increase and would strip $500 billion from the Medicare program. Under the law, he warned, tens of millions of Americans would have to change their health care providers, trillions of dollars would be lumped onto the national debt, and jobs would be lost.

Today a majority of the Court upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare in recognition of its importance as a key initiative of the Obama administration. The big surprise, for many, was the vote by the Chief Justice of the Court, John Roberts, to join with the Court’s four liberals.   Roberts’ decision is not without precedent. Seventy-five years ago, another Justice Roberts – no relation to the current Chief Justice – made a similar switch. Justice Owen Roberts had voted with the Court’s conservative majority in a host of 5-4 decisions invalidating New Deal legislation, but in March of 1937 he suddenly switched sides and began joining with the Court’s four liberals.  In popular lore, Roberts’ switch saved the Court – not only from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s threat to pack it with justices more amenable to the New Deal but, more importantly, from the public’s increasing perception of the Court as a partisan, political branch of government.

Oil, oil, oil.....

Watch the price of oil. Boom or bust it's oil, oil, oil. We live or die in this shit. Nothing is really counted as wealth except the black gold. Everything we eat, wear, buy, need comes from the thin line of tankers and trucks. Screw it up and crash as Jimmy Carter found out and now Obama is paying the price.

In 2008  oil prices sky rocketed and the banking system crashed through the floor.

As I've posted before, oil prices drop, we boom. Maybe to late for the ignoramus in the White House but that's the way our "global economy" works, elections or no elections.

Oba mama could have saved himself by opening all drilling and selling the reserves at cost. Oil would be back in the 70 or 80 range a year or so earlier, as I thought it would and we would be bitching about the Oba mama boom and the coming inflation. (and no, the arrogant leader ain't getting off no way no how LOL)

Sober Look: Crude oil vs. US equities: dislocation continues

In this recent post we discussed the seeming dislocation between levels of crude oil price (in this case WTI) and US equities (S&P500). Some readers have pointed out however that this may be driven by unusually high US crude inventories (particularly in Cushing OK, where WTI futures settle). The US crude stocks have indeed been on the rise, materially above the 5-year range.

Report: Calif. to get seas rising 6 inches by 2030 - Washington Times

The West Coast will see an ocean several inches higher in coming decades, with most of California expected to get sea levels a half foot higher by 2030, according to a report released Friday. The study by the National Research Council gives planners their best look yet at how melting ice sheets and warming oceans associated with climate change will raise sea levels along the country’s Pacific coast. It is generally consistent with earlier global projections, but takes a closer look at California, Oregon and Washington. Although the 6 inches expected for California by 2030 seem minor, the report estimated that sea levels there will be an average of 3 feet higher by 2100. About 72 percent of the state’s coast is covered by sandy cliffs, and the rest include beaches, sand dunes, bays and estuaries. Seaside cliffs will be cut back about 30 yards over the next 100 years, and sand dunes will be driven back even more, said Robert A. The Fed’s Shooting Blanks | PRAGMATIC CAPITALISM

In the midst of the U.S. economic slowdown, the ability of the Fed to do much more is doubtful.  Despite the Fed’s reduction of its growth estimate and its increase in the unemployment projection, the action it took is minimal and unlikely to help.  As we wrote in last week’s Special Report, “.the easiest and most reliable measures have already been taken and any remaining weapons are unorthodox, untried and subject to unknown negative side effects”. Chairman Bernanke essentially confirmed this at yesterday’s press conference, when in answer to a reporter’s question, he said, “.the types of unconventional programs that are now available.we know less about them.they have various costs and risks, and for that reason, we might get a different amount of financial accommodation in this kind of regime than one where short-term interest rates can be varied freely”.  He added that a larger Fed balance sheet would be harder to reduce later, could impair markets or foster financial instability.  Although Bernanke did say that the Fed was not out of ammunition, we got the impression that the Fed had done pretty much all it can and that factors such as Europe and the U.S. “fiscal cliff” were beyond the Fed’s control.

Congress won't let Panetta close bases - Washington Times

Congress is poised to deliver a defeat to the Obama administration on one of its main defense policies in the new budget — base closings. Both the House and Senate Armed Services committees have produced fiscal 2013 spending bills that deny Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta’s request to set up a Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) next year — the sixth since 1988. Some in defense circles say it is the result of election-year politics and members of Congress will realize next year that they need to heed top Pentagon officials who have testified that they have too much infrastructure and not enough money. “It is election-year posturing,” said an aerospace executive who monitors BRAC. Others are not so sure, saying base closings would put thousands of people out of work in a tepid job market.

Medicare-claims fraud suspected for penis pumps - Washington Times

A new report by federal auditors says a Kansas-based company may have paid out as much as $4.2 million in potentially fraudulent Medicare claims for penis pumps, and the auditors are asking the company to refund the government the money. The Health and Human Services inspector general said it sampled 100 claims made with Pos-T-Vac, the Dodge City-based penis-pump manufacturer, and found improprieties in more than half of payments for what are known as “male vacuum erection systems.” The errors ranged from the company’s failing to maintain proof that it delivered the pumps to customers, to one instance when the physician’s approval order wasn’t even signed by the doctor. Together, those claims from the small sample amounted to $18,007 in billings, and when multiplied across Pos-T-Vac’s entire set of 28,088 claims, the potential for fraudulent payments came to more than $4.2 million in 2008 and 2009, the auditors said.

More social spending versus more military spending. Social spending on existing programs boosts the economy immediately, while military spending boosts large campaign contributors income. It calls for tax increases to begin to offset higher spending, and would begin to level off debt as a percentage of the economy by 2022. It would produce $6.4 trillion in new deficits over that time. By contrast the chief Republican alternative from the House GOP would notch just $3.1 trillion in deficits, and three Senate Republican alternatives would all come in below $2 trillion. The Senate is holding votes Wednesday on Mr. Obama's budget, the House GOP's budget and the three Senate Republican alternatives. None was expected to gain the 50 votes needed to pass the chamber.

Nothing but rain. Can't wait to head south for retirement. Need to finish up here then I'm gone. Moving in slow but sure as I tweaked my back and Patti can'do much so we just shuffle along. Back to work....

Pack her up and head for Walmart. Batteries and water held up well last week but was for only 3  days. This week it will be for five. 

We spent the weekend packing the kitchen in here with 7 or 8 cases of can goods in the back of the pickup. The guys who build these things don't expect pack rat survival types to move in to them fulltime, I would guess. The mobile still has our clothing, my hand tools, and a lot of miscelaneous items to be sorted and sold. (need to find a home for my flytying stuff)

The neighbor lady said she would take care of Missy, our other cat, since we lost Simon. Don't think she believes we are too responsible for losing such a great guy. Me either.

Next thing you know he will declare himself a new monatery theorist.  basically, government debt is part of  our national income and when we receive it we pay taxes back to the treasury and our spending is taxed by it's recipient etc, etc.

But we right wingers believe that government as it exists today is the enemy of freedom and no one knows how to curb it's eventual domination of everything in the world. Except scaring the fuck out of ignorant voters to kill the very Social Programs that sustains millions of people.

Still moving in but I'm not that big of a hurry because I will sell this place in July or August and for now we can do laundry and use the internet and hold big yard sales for top dollar. 

I'm installing my 32" TV and blue ray player in the bedroom next week. Need to get everything sorted out and sell a bunch of shit that Patti won't part with (let alone the pile I got!).

Nobody said the full time RV lifestyle was going to be easy.

I'm going to do a few Youtube videos sometime this week just to show everybody where we are at in this great adventure.

Living large at Wallyworld....

We setup the new trailer for the this week at work and then we head back to Bonners Ferry on Sunday to get fully moved in and get the mobile home ready for sale. Need to get rid of a few more bills, like internet and Netflix home delivery and take care of a lot of stuff.

We get a weak, but usable, internet connection from the parking lot but since we go to Mickey D's every morning for coffee no sense paying for surfing the web I just need to amplify the signal.


I plan on installing a couple of 12 volts outlets for the charger and maybe a crockpot, we'll see. Also, I need a wifi Antenna, bridge,  and router set up for a better internet connection.



Also, have a charger set up for the laptop and Ipad in the truck. Then I'll fire up the generator if we want to watch TV or a movie. Nice that Walmart has a Redbox less than a block away.

And it would appear that the batteries and tanks are holding up so no worry over hitching up and emptying them right away.


The only bad thing is that I lost my old buddy, Simon, who disappeared, a couple of nights ago. Put him outside and he was gone in the morning. Had him for 12 years doesn't feel right without him.

I'll only post a few times a week until I work out my internet connection.

trailer is home....

Sitting in the driveway waiting for Patti to come home tomorrow and supervise the move in. One more year and we retire out of Idaho winters....

Vacation time.....

Bought this RV trailer, a 2012 Heartland north Country 29rks lake side. Not one of my better deals because I paid a bunch of medical bills with my credit cards and my credit droppped to 688. So, I traded my F-350 and financed 38000 for 12 years at 7% making the payments at 320 a month.

The truck was 335 a month and I'll save abouty 300 a month. by living next to Walmart, in gas and utilities. And when I sell the mobile here in Bonners Ferry, I'll get enough per month to pay for the new trailer. I'll also save the 180 a month lot rent.

The plan is to put Patti on Social Security and put her, for awhile, on 20 hours a week. As a people greeter this is not a problem for Walmart who has been wonderful. As a matter of fact,  the employees took up a collection and gathered  up 650 bucks and bought Patti a Ipad 2 and gave her  some cash for her trip.

I'll retire next year  from Walmart and take early Social Security and go back into business so we can travel and see everybody we know one more time.

I believe her condition will have her bedridden before we know it so I bought the trailer because I wanted her close to me while I work at walmart. We'll park in the back of the store and I and her friends can keep an eye on her while I work.

In the mean time, Yesterday I put Patti on a plane to California for Mary's graduation from grad school  so she can have her last great adventure by herself. and  I'm going fishing with my son, Jeremy, and getting away from it all. Monday the camper will be out of the dealers service shop and I move in at least during the week and go back to the mobile home on my weekends  and get it ready for sale this summer.

So, I no longer have the 350 but I still have the '97 F-250 which is paid for and I still  have to sell Patti's Suzuki as she can't drive anymore. We will keep the van, paid for, which has the power chair in it and that means  getting the insurance bill back to normal.

I'll post a few more times this week if anything seems worth it.

P.S if they were serious in Washington they would pass a sales tax and send everyone 10 or 20000 to stimulate the economy then steal it back as we pay off old debts and buy new shit.

And no, too early for them to do that because the people who buy the elections like it just the way it is because with a huge tax code only monster companies can compete and keep a grip on their market share.

In the meantime, we are still shopping for a RV as I plan on camping in the back of Walmart and sell out here next year and head south.

President Obama is hosting two high-level international meetings in a week. He will offer his solutions to global economic and security issues. It’s doubtful the rest of the world is listening.

Mr. Obama’s international stature has decreased markedly since the heady days when he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize after only 11 days in office. He has done little to earn the “down payment” prize, and now foreign leaders expect little from him. In that respect, he lives down to expectations.

Mr. Obama’s address at the opening of the NATO conference is a case in point. He discussed his plan to “responsibly” end the war in Afghanistan, which is itself a misnomer; the war will not end, just NATO’s involvement. He made the same points he’s been making for months, stressing that the withdrawal of U.S. forces doesn’t mean abandoning Afghanistan, even though most observers believe that’s exactly what is happening.

The Group of Eight leaders, meeting over the weekend at the Camp David presidential retreat, are trying to figure out how to tame Europe’s debt crisis while also increasing the demand for goods and spurring job growth.

In talks Saturday, President Barack Obama and leaders of Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Britain, Russia, and Japan were looking to build consensus even though a decisive plan of action seemed out of reach right now.

The G-8 session sets the stage for a far more consequential European summit next week where the countries that share the euro as their currency hope to come together on specific steps to fight rising debt while spurring a recovery.

Patti had a big surprise Tuesday .......

Because of Patti's ALS taking away her ability to speak, about 60 Walmart associates got together and had a potluck for her while we were on our weekend and raised over 600 bucks and bought her an Ipad 2. She will need it for it's text to speech app. to do her job.

Also,she gets on an airplane by herself next Thursday for my daughter's graduation from grad school and needs to be able to talk to the attendants.

In the meantime, I get to go fishing and hold down the fort.

Birthday went great caught 20 trout or so. Still shopping for an RV which is a lot of fun.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and President Obama are statistically tied with 43.6 percent and 43.2 percent support, respectively, among likely voters surveyed in the first head-to-head matchup conducted for The Washington Times/JZ Analytics poll, which nonetheless found more enthusiasm for the president’s campaign than for the GOP’s challenger.

The survey, taken Friday and Saturday of 800 likely voters, found both men winning their own partisans, and gave Mr. Romney a slight edge among independents.

But the sizable chunk of undecided voters — 13 percent — reflects a more volatile electorate than the last time an incumbent was running for re-election and a Massachusetts politician was seeking to unseat him, said John Zogby, the pollster who conducted the survey.

Not getting any younger you know, LOL. Too lazy to work on the garden and we have company today with a BBQ this afternoon. Maybe tomorrow I'll buy something expensive. Would love to have that travel trailer we've been looking at. I got loan approval but I have to throw in my F-350 in trade and keep the F-250. Can't afford the payment on both!

Biggest problem is that that's   lot of weight on the tranny and ass end of the '97 to pull. Of course, that means that in order to head south for the winter I'd need a bigger truck. it doesn't help that Patti doesn't like motorhomes but wants to stay in one place for the seasons.

Decisions, decisions.

Oh yea,, the broke dicks at Walmart think I'm nuts because paying 300 a month for an RV sounds like a millionair's dream to them. After all they have to pay 5 or 600 in rent for their apartments so they can watch TV.

The only issue I have now is I want to knock of 4 or 5000 from the price and then I'd have  sell the mobile home which would generate 300 a month to pay for it.

Well, that's the plan for today.

Talked with my younger brother, Jake and his wife about touring in our RV's a year from now but they have to get something themselves. I'm really looking forward to wintering in Florida and Arizona even if I have to sell $5 sunglasses again. I tell people that we used to make 2 or 3 hundred a week doing that but you can't live on it alone.

So we will have Social Security checks and Medicare for Patti. And credit cards, LOL.

IGNORE THE FISCAL CLIFF AT YOUR OWN PERIL | PRAGMATIC CAPITALISM

In addition to the economic slowdown, the continued housing crisis, the endless turmoil in Europe and the deceleration in China and India, we are moving closer to the period where the so-called ‘fiscal cliff’ will become more of a threat to the market.  The fiscal cliff refers to the near-simultaneous January 2013 expiration of the Bush tax cuts, the payroll tax cuts, emergency unemployment benefits and the sequester established in last summer’s debt limit agreement.  Various estimates have indicated that the hit to GDP could be as high as 4%.  Many on Wall Street dismiss these concerns on the grounds that Congress and the administration will simply extend everything and, once again, ‘kick the can down the road’.  That may eventually happen, but it won’t be easy.

Confusing but true. Letting rich people keep their money is capitalism taxing it and giving it to politically favored groups is not. You'll notice that this guy, Reich, can't get it through his head.

I contend that you don't have to tax rich people's income but their consumption. You only tax the money they spend because to make up income taxes on their income it comes out of our asses in higher prices, lack of services and innovation, and slower job growth.

My main point is that i agree with much of this post but taking from producers and giving to non producers  is self defeating. Of course, if you disagree show me anytime in history that this has worked for anyone but a handful of supporters of this kind of government.

As to his point of deficits getting out of control, I guess trillion dollar or so a year aren't out of control yet but must be getting close. But the truth is that there is absolutely no proof that a fiat currency can not run unlimited deficits until we have full employment. Then taxes have to be raised and interest rates jacked up, as Fed Chairman Volker did in the 70's, so inflation does not destroy the currency.

I'm sure we all are in agreement that we are a long long way from that!

That’s why “supply-side” tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy are perverse. Corporations and the rich don’t need more tax cuts; they’re swimming in money as it is. The reason they don’t invest in additional productive capacity and hire more people is they don’t see a sufficient market for the added goods and services, which means an inadequate return on such investment.

But more Keynesian stimulus won’t help solve the more fundamental problem. Although added government spending has gone some way toward filling the gap in demand caused by consumers whose jobs and incomes are disappearing, it can’t be a permanent solution. Even if the wealthy paid their fair share of taxes, deficits would soon get out of control. Additional public investments in infrastructure and basic research and development can make the economy more productive – but more productivity doesn’t necessarily help if a growing portion of the population can’t absorb it.

Snowe from Maine, Specter from Pennsylvania, and now Lugar and several others I can't remember. And perhaps, Hatch from Utah, all fired or driven from office for pretending to be voting with conservatives.

The main problem is that in order to get the job you have to lie. If you don't toe the official line you can't get the money to run. Ask Rick Santorum. You can't do shit, like Ron Paul , even if you are the only fiscal conservative in the race.

But guys  like him are for changing Washington politics and it ain't going to happen no matter how many Tea Party candidates run.

But every generation has to learn that voting for the working stiff is a waste of time.

The economy has stalled. Friday’s jobs report for April was even more disappointing than March. Employers added only 115,000 new jobs, down from March’s number (the Bureau of Labor Statistics revised the March number upward to 154,000, but that’s still abysmal relative to what’s needed). We need well over 250,000 new jobs per month in order to begin to whittle down the vast number of jobs lost in the Great Recession. At least 125,000 new jobs are necessary each month just to keep up with an expanding population of working-age people. With only 115,000 jobs in April, the hole is getting even deeper. Most observers pay attention to the official rate of unemployment, which edged down to 8.1 percent in April from 8.2 percent in March. That may sound like progress, but it’s not. The unemployment rate dropped because more people dropped out of the labor force, too discouraged to look for work. The household survey, from which the rate is calculated, counts as “unemployed” only people who are actively looking for work. If you stop looking because the job scene looks hopeless for you, you’re no longer counted. In the winter months — December, January, and February – hiring had seemed to pick up, averaging over 250,000 new jobs per month. Then the mini-surge stopped. The simplest explanation is that the mild winter across much of the United States gave an unusual boost to hiring then, leading to a correction by the spring.

We came in last in sales in the district so most of management is looking for jobs. Patti and I lost a couple of thousand in wages last year and this year. Supposedly the company is sending a new crew to straighten out the backroom and get the shelves stocked because the inventory system sucks.

One more year and we can retire and go back into business again.

And because investors look at the state of a nation’s economy when assessing its ability to repay debt, austerity programs haven’t even worked as a way to reduce borrowing costs. What is the alternative? Well, in the 1930s — an era that modern Europe is starting to replicate in ever more faithful detail — the essential condition for recovery was exit from the gold standard. The equivalent move now would be exit from the euro, and restoration of national currencies. You may say that this is inconceivable, and it would indeed be a hugely disruptive event both economically and politically. But continuing on the present course, imposing ever-harsher austerity on countries that are already suffering Depression-era unemployment, is what’s truly inconceivable.

What's wrong with raising taxes on the rich......

Raising a sales tax? No problem. But income taxes are passed down to us, the consumer almost immediately.

If not the rich get unrich.

The confusion is I work for wages and the rich work for assets that show a profit and can't be touched by income taxes. Raise taxes on the profits and they raise their prices of goods and services to you and I. Or fire us.

Besides, every time the politicians tries to tax these assets the rich bribe someone to run against them and runs them out of town.

Only sales taxes can gather more up front from the wealthy but eventually they get the money back from you by raising your prices or cutting your wages.

You don't get rich by giving the government your money but by giving the government someone elses money.

And as far as budgets go we seem to be terrified of big numbers that mean nothing because we have had record breaking giant budget deficits that will "strangle" our economy since World War II and all that has happened is we are all eating like bandits, over educated, control the land, air,sea and space. Have health care for everybody (just show up at the emergency room, you'll see) virtually no involuntary homeless and starving and way too many fat people pontificating about budget deficits that mean NOTHING!

The Ryan cult was very much on display last week, after President Obama said the obvious: the latest Republican budget proposal, a proposal that Mitt Romney has avidly embraced, is a “Trojan horse” — that is, it is essentially a fraud. “Disguised as deficit reduction plans, it is really an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country.”

The reaction from many commentators was a howl of outrage. The president was being rude; he was being partisan; he was being a big meanie. Yet what he said about the Ryan proposal was completely accurate.

Actually, there are many problems with that proposal. But you can get the gist if you understand two numbers: $4.6 trillion and 14 million.

Of these, $4.6 trillion is the revenue cost over the next decade of the tax cuts embodied in the plan, as estimated by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. These cuts — which are, by the way, cuts over and above those involved in making the Bush tax cuts permanent — would disproportionately benefit the wealthy, with the average member of the top 1 percent receiving a tax break of $238,000 a year.

CHICAGO, April 5, 2012 — Retired domestic terrorist Bill Ayers is upset because military personnel are allowed to board commercial flights ahead of him.

He, a rock star retired terrorist, has to wait while people who sacrifice, suffer, and serve are given preference. That would knock the wind of self-importance and self-esteem out of any famous progressive.

Evidently Ayers still harbors a deep-seated hatred of people who serve our country and denies that they should not even be extended a simple courtesy, let alone recognition and gratitude.

Bill Ayers has never served anyone or anything but himself. Born into a life of privilege his contribution to society was committing acts of terrorism and while advocating acts of violence.

When it came time to pay the price for his crimes he ran and hid like a coward. The notorious terrorists from the 1960s were never anything more.

Humor a 2-edged sword when joke's on candidate - Washington Times

Done right, humor can be a huge asset for a politician. But it is fumbled easily in the overheated environment of a political campaign.

That may be why Mr. Romney’s aides sent him to the “The Tonight Show” last week with these instructions: “Don’t try and be funny.”

The Republican presidential front-runner largely complied, and that worked out just fine for him. But he apparently forgot his advisers’ advice the next day when he attempted to be funny on a conference call with people in next-to-vote Wisconsin.

Mr. Romney recounted what he called a “humorous” story about the time his father, then an auto executive, shut down a factory in Michigan and moved it to Wisconsin. Later, when his dad was in a parade while running for Michigan governor, the marching band kept playing the University of Wisconsin fight song.

“Every time they would start playing ‘On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!’ my dad’s political people would jump up and down and try to get them to stop,” Mr. Romney said with a laugh.
